December 27th, 2010
Once again, time has escaped me! Well, we made it through another year!
Terry is still out of work. His back is not co-operating at all. Time will only tell what the future brings for us.
I have decided to go back to school to obtain my master's degree in Education and a certificate to teach online courses. My goal is to be able to work in my pj's if I so desire! Classes start on January 31st!
So.... life is never boring! Always so much going on. We keep taking baby steps to getting the remodeling done around here. Bought a brown leather sofa for the living room. It looks grand! Tore up the kitchen floor and emptied most of the cupboards and took one down from the wall. Now I just have to decide on a layout!
So... on to my New Year's Resolutions... This is truly the year I will conquer the weight problem, once and for all. I have been incorporating exercise into my daily routine again. This is a good thing!
I'm on vacation through January 10th, 2011! Getting kitchen plans organized, bills organized, completely incorporating a new schedule in to my life in order to keep up with my life and all the plans I've made for
the future!
Of course, God is first and foremost in my life. I sometimes stray from the path by not praying daily, nor reading my scriptures daily. 2011 is the year I plan to change my life back to those things that I know ground me. My Father in Heaven is my guide and my guardian. My Savior is my strength and the source of my joy and happiness, as I follow the path I was sent her to take. My rewards for following this path may not come until the next life, but I cannot worry about this life any more. Men are that they might have joy. That does not mean that life will be perfect and we won't have any challenges. It simply means we will have 'moment's of great joy and happiness. I have been blessed with those moments in my life.
My family is second in my life. I hope to have many opportunities to see my family members more this year. I hope to help my mom get out a little bit and maybe make some memories before it is too late for her.
Andrew will be moving out sometime this year to start his own life in his own place. He and Marissa postponed their wedding but are still planning on a future together. Jared is starting school this year also. Cameron is in Cub Scouts and moving up in the ranks. He loves participating in Scouts and is looking forward to participating in a team sport soon. Matthew and Kelly are in school now and moving toward a brighter future. Fayth and Bubba are both thriving in school and in dance and sports. They are indeed a busy family! TJ and Nicole welcomed little Aaron Liam into their family and they are all doing well. Nicole is a very busy, but awesome wife, mother, and homemaker. TJ is busy with traveling for work. Hannah and Adam are loving school and helping mommy with their little brothers, Caleb and Aaron; who are doing very well!
So, my life is full; crazy busy; but full of love and opportunities to create myself into the kind of person that Father in Heaven will be proud of. God bless you all in the new year!

Wow! Time is flying by! News updates on the Shelby Front!
Terry has been out of work since June 1st, 2010 with his back pain again. He was diagnosed with Arthritis in his spine. Once again, the doctor's are taking forever to do anything that might help. (Yeah.. It has been an early morning again... negative nelly....Terry woke me up with his snoring at 3:30 am. *Sigh* ) The good news is that we have a new grandson, Aaron Liam, born July 8th! He is our 5th grandson and 7th grandchild. What a blessing!
We went to Utah for vacation in August to visit TJ and Matthew's families and to see our newest grand baby!
Cameron spent the summer with Uncle Matt, Aunt Kelly, Fayth and Bubba! He had a blast playing with his cousins again. School has begun again and this year Bubba and Adam started kindergarten! Time is flying by! Grandma and Auntie Nicole took Fayth and Hannah to the beauty shop for a manicure! Good times! They loved it. They felt like the princesses that they are!
Our little Caleb, (Aaron's big brother and Hannah and Adam's little brother) was having trouble with his breathing and sleeping. While we were there he was diagnosed with obstructive apnea. Bless his heart! He is such a happy little boy, in spite of this problem! He had surgery on September 7th to remove his adenoids and tonsils. Nicole informed me the surgeon said the tonsils were huge! Again.. bless his heart!
That is all I have time to write for now. Will try to do better about keeping up!

When Life hands you Lemons....
Ok... this is turning into therapy for me to write on my blog. I seem to do it only when I need to vent. I will try to keep this positive.
As I struggle to get things done in my house, I am constantly becoming frustrated with the lack of progress, help, and continual interruptions! Some days I think it would be easier just to light a match and start all over! (Ok.. ok.. not so positive... changing my course!)
I have prayed to find answers to the biggest problems and I have discovered that I need to just lighten my own load by paying someone to do what others are not able or capable of. I'm calling a plumber, glass shop, and a/c place today! Then, I am making myself spend one hour every evening straightening SOMETHING! So far, so good.
So... stay tuned... exciting things are coming!!!

It is 4 am and I am wide awake! Actually, I was wide awake at 2:30 am... I have no idea why.
So, I thought maybe it would not hurt to update my blog, and get some things organized in my office/sewing room.
I found Cameron's birth certificate, which I needed to get him into Disneyland for free on his birthday. I haven't told him yet that we are going. I think he will be very excited.
I was just looking over my daughter's (Nicole - TJ's wife) blog and catching up with the goings on in their lives. We miss them and Matthew's family terribly since they all moved to Utah! Terry is determined to move their in three years when he retires. But then, I will miss Andrew and Marissa. I don't think I like that everyone has to move so far away! I understand it, don't begrudge anyone for it, but I don't have to like it! lol
Life has been drearily busy; from work to getting rid of junk. Terry bought a shed so we can get rid of the POD in the driveway and hopefullly find our way to a junk free house one day. Some times that just feels like a pipe dream, but I am determined. (I just discovered that when I have insomnia, I'm not a very positive person-sorry... will try to step it up a bit in the next post).
I am going to now try to get some more sleep. Good Night all!

New Things!
Ok, yes... it takes me some time to incorporate new things into my life, even if they are good things!
I've had a week to contemplate a lot of 'things' in my life. I caught a cold virus from my grandson, Cameron, and it knocked me down flat. I've been sleeping, coughing, and sneezing for over a week now. It has been too hard to read with my watery eyes so I have spent my waking hours contemplating what I need to change in my life to have a more healthy and happy life.
First thing of course is the obvious: Lose weight. This has been a major challenge for me these past 12-13 years. But, as I stated before, it takes me a while to incorporate new things into my life. I have started an exercise routine (minus this past week of course) which is helping me tone my muscles. I plan on adding walking to the routine as soon as I am completely well. I also have been taking vitamins daily and I'm hoping all of this will help to keep me healthier. Also, I am trying to get in to a better routine -early to bed, early to rise. So... here begins a new chapter in my life!
We had the elders for dinner Sunday night and I asked for a blessing because I was feeling pretty sick that day. I was told that Heavenly Father has 'allowed' certain things to take place in my life but for me to remember that 'everything' has a purpose and that I was to trust in Him in ALL things. The blessing was a confirmation to me of what I was feeling before. He has told me that all the negatives in my life have a purpose and I just need to do what I know is right; keep trying to set the example to my family, and all will work out well.
So.... trust I must! (This has always been an issue for me as I learned early on that people are not always trustworthy). However, the atonement is a wonderful tool we all can use to set things right, to heal broken hearts, to right the wrongs and to head back in the right direction. This life we are living was meant to be lived. To be tried and tested and ultimately find our way back to our heavenly home.
